Billy Gilmour in Brighton six word verdict as ex-Rangers and Chelsea kid impresses in rare EPL start

Billy Gilmour delivered a six word verdict online after a rare stunning outing for Brighton in their demolition of Wolves.

The Seagulls hit their English Premier League rivals for SIX as they kept hopes of securing European football alive for next season. Roberto De Zerbi pitched in the Scotland international with Alex Mac Allister and Moises Caicedo dropped to the bench after a busy schedule of fixtures.

The former Rangers starlet and Chelsea midfielder took his chance and is confident he has given his club boss food for thought ahead of a home clash against Manchester United on Thursday night. Gilmour and Co are just two points behind Spurs in fifth spot having played two games less than the North London side. Taking on Instagram to upload a series of pictures from the match, Gilmour accompanied them with the caption: "What a performance from the boys."

In an interview with Brighton's official website on the back of the huge win, he explained: "I took my opportunity. Of course it’s hard to fill in for Moises [Caicedo] and Alexis [Mac Allister] who have been doing a brilliant job all season and I’ve had to be patient, I tried to take my opportunity.

“When they’ve played I’ve watched them, studied them, the way they receive the ball and break the lines and they’ve been absolutely brilliant. In training I’ve been trying to do that as well, to get my opportunity to do that in the game, so it felt good.

“We were absolutely gutted about the semi-final and then we had that over us when we went to Nottingham. But today we dusted ourselves down and knew we had to put in a performance. We move on to the next game, but I thought every single one of us was brilliant against Wolves.”

He added: "I need to stay focussed and help the team whenever I am called upon. We’ve still got seven games left and it’s all to play for.

"Every game we go into we’re confident with how we’re going to play. We scored six goals and it could have been more, that’s how many opportunities we had. But we keep working in training and keep going forward.

“We know our style of play, we work on it every single day in training, we know how the manager wants to play and it’s brilliant to watch and to be a part of.”
