On Sunday, the Chicago Bulls were blown out by the Minnesota Timberwolves to lose their fourth-straight game, 150-126.
Minnesota’s 150 points was a franchise record for points in a game along with being the fourth-most points in regulation in league history.
Following the loss, Bulls coach Billy Donovan spoke to the media about the team’s need to compete better on defense.
“We’re not escaping competition. We need to compete a whole lot better on the defensive end of the floor,” said Donovan.
The Bulls, who hold an 11-18 record and sit as the No. 11 seed in the Eastern Conference, have been the talk around the league and media circles as speculation rumbles on if Chicago will end up blowing up their roster and starting yet another rebuild.
If Arturas Karnisovas and company don’t plan to start over, the effort on the defensive end must improve if this team has any shot at even making the playoffs in the East.
“I can switch to zone. I can switch to different pick-and-roll coverages. But if the compete isn’t there, it doesn’t make much difference,” Donovan said.
