In a move that saves the team some cap space, the Buffalo Bills on Sunday are releasing eight-time Pro Bowl selection Von Miller, according to multiple reports. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport was first to report the news.
Miller, who turns 36 in March, was set to earn $17.5 million in 2025. Buffalo frees up roughly $8.4 million against the cap by releasing the future Pro Football Hall of Famer, but the two sides are reportedly open to a return.
In a move designed to push Buffalo over the top as a Super Bowl contender, Miller signed a six-year, $120 million contract with the Bills back in March of 2022. But injuries, including a season-ending ACL tear 11 games into his Bill's tenure in '22, as well as off-field issues—he was accused in a domestic violence case in November of '23—put a damper on his career in Buffalo.
In three seasons with the Bills, Miller recorded 14 sacks in 36 games played. In addition to winning two Super Bowls in his career—one with the Denver Broncos, in which he was named Super Bowl MVP, and another with the Los Angeles Rams—Miller is the NFL's active career sacks leader.
