With NFL training camps just getting underway, the Bills were reportedly dealt an early blow. According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport, running back Nyheim Hines is expected the miss the 2023 NFL season due to injury.
The report states that Hines, who was acquired by Buffalo from the Colts during the 2022 NFL season, suffered a "significant knee injury off-site." Shortly after the original news broke, Pelissero followed up by reporting that Hines was sitting stationary on a jet ski and was struck by another rider.

The Bills traded running back Zack Moss and a conditional sixth-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft to Indianapolis in exchange for Hines. Over nine games with Buffalo in 2022, Hines rushed just six times for negative-three yards while catching five passes for 53 yards and one touchdown. He also scored two touchdowns on 19 kick returns for Buffalo.
Since joining the NFL in 2018, Hines played roughly four and a half seasons with the Colts, rushing 300 times for 1,205 yards and 10 touchdowns. The former North Carolina State Wolfpack product thrived as a pass-catcher, hauling in 235 catches on 300 targets for 1,725 receiving yards and seven scores over 72 games.
