Bills RB Damien Harris looks forward to facing old Patriots teammates

Former New England Patriots running back Damien Harris signed a one-year contract with the Buffalo Bills on Monday. But even though he signed with a rival team, he doesn’t hold any bad blood for the Patriots.

Harris was a major part of New England’s rushing attack during the first four years of his NFL career. The former third-round draft pick recorded 449 carries for 2,094 yards and 20 touchdowns with the Patriots.

He will now join a backfield headlined by James Cook, which will give Buffalo a potential dynamic duo at the running back position.

Harris was asked about what it would be like to face his former team as a running back for the archrival Bills. He seemed happy about the prospect, during his introductory press conference, as transcribed by NESN.com’s Dakota Randall.

“It’ll definitely be exciting to see a bunch of familiar faces and people that I got a lot of love for,” Harris said. “And a lot of great relationships that I formed over the years, the last four years. It’ll definitely be great to see those familiar faces twice a year.”

It will be strange for New England fans to see Harris in a different uniform. Nevertheless, this clears the way for Rhamondre Stevenson to fully take over as the top running back for the Patriots.
