Praise for Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud continues to pile on after his impressive rookie season. Former NFL quarterback Cam Newton already called him a game-changer, and now Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen said he loves Stroud’s game.
“I’m a big fan of his,” Allen told “The Pat McAfee Show” on Thursday. “He can absolutely spin the ball and the way that it comes off his hands – he’s so fluid. His mechanics are great. He’s impressive to watch.”

Allen didn’t meet Stroud until this week in Las Vegas in the days leading up to Super Bowl LVIII, but they will face off against each other at some point in 2024 after the Texans and Bills top their respective divisions in 2023.
The two of them are among the top young quarterbacks in the NFL, too, after both finished with top-10 passing marks this year. Stroud actually finished with more yards per completion (12.9) than Allen (11.2) and fewer interceptions (five for Stroud vs. 18 for Allen).
Allen would know talent, though, after he threw for at least 4,000 yards in each of the past four seasons – all of which ended in AFC East titles for the Bills. Stroud is well on his way to that mark after winning the AFC South and throwing for more than 4,000 yards, but that’s just one season of excellence. He’ll need to keep it up and continue to perform well in the AFC playoffs to reach Allen’s level.
