Bills Bringing Back Former All-Pro Cornerback as Injuries Pile Up on Defense

With injuries continuing to ravage the Bills defense, the club reportedly plans to bring back a familiar, high-profile face to its cornerback room ahead of Week 6.

Former All-Pro Josh Norman, who played for Buffalo in 2020, is expected to sign a deal this week to join the Bills' practice squad, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. The organization’s reunion with the 12-year veteran comes amid glaring health concerns in the secondary, including the loss of star CB Tre’Davious White to a torn Achilles.

A fifth-round pick by the Panthers in 2012, Norman will rejoin Buffalo after playing just two games in a one-year, return stint to Carolina last season.

Josh Norman is expected to help out a decimated Buffalo Bills secondary.

While Norman would still need to be elevated to the main roster, the 35-year-old defender figures to eventually provide some stability to a unit that has also dealt injuries to safety Jordan Poyer and corners Christian Benford and Taron Johnson.

Back in 2020, Norman, after signing as a free agent, started three of nine games with the Bills, logging 24 tackles, four pass deflections, an interception, one touchdown, and a forced fumble on a 13–3 team that reached the AFC championship game.
