A mansion at the heart of a high-profile divorce case has been put on the market again with £18 million being knocked off the price tag. Bishopsgate House in Englefield Green, Surrey, had an asking price of £50 million when it was put up for sale in 2018, but can now be snapped up for a cool £32 million.
The house was at the centre of a high-profile divorce case in 2016 when its owner Sheik Walid Juffali paid a settlement of £75 million to Christina Estrada, which at the time was a UK record. Mr Juffali died shortly after the legal proceedings, and the family is now looking to sell their marital home.
Just four miles from Windsor Castle, the property enjoys secret access to Windsor Great Park. That access has existed for centuries, and was initially used by monks who had been granted permission to pass through the gate into the park – hence the name Bishopsgate.
"It is one of just a few homes to have this Narnia-esque entrance to Windsor Great Park," said Becky Fatemi, founder and director of Rokstone, the estate agent managing the sale. "The deeds state that residents are allowed to cross the threshold by foot or on horseback for the grand total of £1 levy per year."
Among its many features, the 33,264 sq ft home comes with a helipad that was created in 2005 due to the property's proximity to the private Farnborough Airport. The Royal Family have also been known to use the helipad from time to time when visiting Windsor Castle.
The house has five reception rooms, 12 bedrooms, and leisure facilities including an indoor swimming pool and "well-being zone". There are also floodlit tennis courts, a beautiful hedge maze, extensive equestrian facilities and a separate three-bedroom guest cottage.
