Billie Piper signs up for Netflix adaptation of Terri White's memoir Coming Undone

Billie Piper will star in a brand new Netflix series adaptation of journalist Terri White's memoir Coming Undone.

Taking to Instagram on Monday, Terri confirmed the news by sharing a snap of 39-year-old Billie and said she is the "perfect person" for the role.

Terri captioned the post: "In other news, that I can’t quite believe I’m actually sharing: the genius @billiepiper is going to star in and exec produce the TV adaptation of Coming Undone. And I’m writing it.

"There’s so much to say about Billie’s brilliance and warmth and wit and fire, and why she’s the perfect person to be the heart and soul of our series, but there’ll be time for all of that. For now: HOLY SH*T is all I’ve got," she added.

Billie also shared the announcement on her Instagram Story on Tuesday and said of Terri's book: "If you haven't read this, get your hands on it now. It's an incredible read. Thrilled to be a part of it."

Coming Undone, which was published in 2020, is the true story of Terri's upbringing and time spent living in New York City, where she spent time on a psychiatric ward after struggling with her mental health.

The memoir also reveals her childhood growing up in poverty, as well as enduring sexual and physical abuse at the hands of her mother’s partners.

It's presumed that Billie will be portraying Terri during her time living in Manhattan where she worked for Time Out.

Mother-of-three Billie is best-known for her roles in Doctor Who and Secret Diary of a Call Girl.

More recently she has starred in Penny Dreadful and Sky Atlantic series I Hate Suzie.
