Billie Eilish urges fans to stop throwing objects at performers: ‘Don’t do it’

Billie Eilish is the latest pop star to weigh in on the emerging trend of fans throwing items at performers while on stage and has urged concertgoers to stop.

A worrying phenomenon has sprung up of late as singers have been on the receiving end of items being chucked at them in the midst of performing.

Taylor Swift became the latest victim of the trend after fans threw something at her, which was claimed to have been bracelets, as she returned to her dressing room.

Elsewhere, Harry Styles was hit in the face during his Vienna gig over the weekend, while previously Bebe Rexha was left needing stitches after a mobile phone hit her face.

A few days later, singer Ava Max was slapped by a stage invader during a show in Los Angeles, while US country singer Kelsea Ballerini was also hit in the face by a bracelet that a fan threw in a performance in Idaho.

Last week, Adele spoke out against the recent number of such incidents, telling her audience she would “kill you” if they tried.

However, 21-year-old Eilish said that for her, the trend isn’t anything new as she been experiencing this behaviour at live shows for six years.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter at the Barbie world premiere, she shared: “I’ve been getting hit on stage with things for like, literally, six years.

“I don’t know why this is, like, new.”

Trying to make sense of fans’ recent actions, the Ocean Eyes hitmaker added: “People just get excited and it can be dangerous.

“I have mixed feelings about it, because when you’re up there it blows. But you know it’s out of love and they’re just trying to give you something.”

However, she had a strong message for fans that might be eager to toss objects at their favourite performer: “We get it, but don’t do it.”

“It’s absolutely infuriating when you’re up there. You’re in a vulnerable position,” the Grammy winner added.
