Billie Eilish has admitted she ‘never felt sexy for one second’ with the lighter locks or sporting tight clothing.
The 20-year-old singer kicked off her career sporting blonde tresses and baggy clothes.
However, she has ditched the platinum look for darker hair.
She also has returned to wearing her signature loose-fitting outfits after being seen in a series of photoshoots and on the red-carpet wearing more figure-revealing clothing.
In a new interview, the James Bond singer said: “I feel sexier when I dress masculine.
“I didn’t feel sexy for one second of being blonde.
“When I was blonde, people treated me differently. People completely changed their demeanour [around me].”
The star, who didn’t get into the details of how she was treated, also told Highsnobiety magazine that people have taken her “more seriously" because of her more masculine way of dressing throughout her career.
“If I had been more feminine and girly, people would’ve been a lot less respectful of me," she said.
However, last year she switched up her style on the cover of British Vogue, where she appeared in a Gucci corset and skirt. In her interview, she predicted she’d be criticised for her new, sexy look, and she was correct.
Many fans took to social media to slam her over the sartorial choice, with some even calling her a “sell-out”.
“Is showing your body ‘empowering’ or did Billie Eilish not have enough fans or attention when she wore baggy clothes,” one wrote. “I know labels are behind @billieeilish new girly sexy look, I like the baggy Billie tbh..”
Another added, “She finally sold her soul, don’t expect her to go back to baggy stuff now!... proof that money can make you change your values, another sell-out.”
The seven-time Grammy winner also explained in her High Snobiety chat that because of fans dissecting her every move, it also makes it difficult to have relationships under the spotlight and admits it’s been difficult for her to fall in love.
“Falling in love is hard for me. It’s a spooky thing, love. It’s really spooky,” the Bad Guy hitmaker admitted.
However, she seems to be getting over that hurdle as she’s made no secret of her romance with boyfriend Jesse Rutherford.
Earlier this week, she gushed about the songwriter calling him the "hottest f***ing f***er alive.’
“I just am really inspired by this person, and, you know, he’s inspired by me," she told Vanity Fair. “It’s really cool, and I’m really excited and I’m really happy about it."
