Billie Eilish has broken her silence on her romance with Jesse Rutherford following criticism for their age gap.
The singing sensation has said she is "really inspired" by her boyfriend Jesse Rutherford and says she is "really excited and happy" about their relationship.
The 20-year-old said that "equal admiration" is really important to her in a relationship and that she did not "want to be controlled".
Billie's romance with the Neighbourhood frontman, Jesse Rutherford, 31, has been criticised due to their 11 year age gap.
However, Billie shut this down when she spoke in her annual interview with Vanity Fair, saying her relationship was "really cool".
When she was asked if she had a boyfriend, she smiled and replied: "Yeah I do, and it’s really cool and I’m really excited and I’m really happy about it.
"I managed to get my way to a point in my life my life to a point where I not only was known by a person that I thought was the hottest f****** f***** alive, but I pulled his a**.
"Are we kidding me?… I did that s***. Jesse Rutherford everyone."
Speaking about what she values in a relationship, she continued: "My love language is just physical touch.
"Other than that, just like freedom…you know, I don’t want to be controlled. I want to be trusted and I want to be able to have space and I want love and attention and equal admiration is really important.
"I’m really inspired by this person and you know he’s inspired by me, it’s really cool."
The interview with Vanity Fair is the sixth one in a series that Billie has carried out each year since 2017 on October 18 which documents how she has grown as a musician.
In the 2022 interview, as well as her relationship status, she talked about her career highlights including headlining the Coachella and Glastonbury festivals as well as winning the best original song Oscar for No Time To Die.
Billie and Jesse made their red carpet debut at the LACMA Art + Film Gala 2022 earlier this month stepping out as a couple for the first time after weeks of rumours about them dating.
The pair wore matching Gucci pyjamas for the event and even wrapped up cosy in a Gucci blanket as they posed for photos together.
Billie's look featured a floor-length nightie and a sleeping mask styled into her hair, while Jesse wore pyjamas with fluffy slippers.
