Billie Eilish and Justin Bieber's incredibly close friendship and childhood crush

Being in the public eye means that you're brushing shoulders with celebrities and inevitably publicising your star-studded relationships.

There's one friendship that pulls on heart strings more than any - and that's Justin Bieber and Billie Eilish.

The Bad Guy singer, 20, is practically living out her teenage fantasy after developing a friendship with her childhood crush.

Billie - who is set to break records this weekend as Glastonbury 's youngest ever headliner - has been candid about her days as a true Belieber.

The public was able to witness the surreal moment that the award-winning artist and Justin, 28, first met at a festival in 2019.

Fans went wild for the duo's first-ever meeting at Coachella - an iconic moment that was documented by onlookers as the star-studded duo shared a sweet embrace.

In true Belieber style, she met him, quickly ran away and went back to hug him while she cried.

The memorable moment was also shared in Billie's documentary The World's a Little Blurry as t he Yummy singer brushed the star's hair with his hand after their meeting.

During the documentary, Billie reminisced the memory as she recalled a very emotional message that Justin had sent her following their first encounter.

"It’s moments like tonight where I’m reminded what I mean to people," Billie read out. "Your love for me touched my heart.

"You are so special, not for what you can do, but for who you are. Remember that.

"I am so impressed by your aura and presence," he added. "You carry a heavy calling."

"You are an idol to so many. I’m excited to watch you flourish.

"You are beyond special. Thank you for tonight, it meant just as much to me as it meant to you."

He continued: “I also want to let you know that it feels like yesterday [that] I was 15 singing One Time and now I’m 25 and that was 10 years ago and it flew by like a flash.

"Enjoy every minute of what you are experiencing.

"Embrace it all, believe you are great, but not greater than anyone."

The moment was clearly special for Justin - who broke down in tears when he spoke about the singer the following year.

The jaw-dropping moment saw Justin get tearful about the rising pop star as he wanted to protect her from the dark side of fame.

The Canadian singer quickly became emotional after sharing his own tough experiences of being in the spotlight - and inevitably wanted to protect Billie from falling into the same pitfalls as him.

He sat down with Zane Lowe on his Beats 1 show to discuss his career highs and lows - and soon later the conversation turned to Billie.

Justin welled up and began to cry as he expressed his fears that the fellow pop star would "lose it" as she continues to find astronomical fame.

“Let her do her thing. If she ever needs me I’m going to be here for her,” he began.

Wiping away tears, he continued: “just protecting those moments because people take for granted encounters and…” before trailing off.

Seeming to reflect on his own troubled past, he declared he wanted to save Billie from a similar downturn.

“I just want to protect her, you know. I don’t want her to lose it,” he said.

“I don’t want her to go through anything I went through. I don’t wish that on anyone. If she ever needs me, I’m just a call away,” he added.
