Bill Turnbull told of his joy at being reunited with Susanna Reid as he made his final TV appearance last year.
The much-loved TV presenter sadly passed away today at the age of 66 after a battle with prostate cancer. Following his sad passing, his final time on TV has resurfaced when he appeared alongside Susanna on Good Morning Britain on May 26, 2021.
Bill filled in for usual host Adil Ray on the ITV breakfast show for three days back in May last year, where the pair discussed a multitude of topics including the coronavirus lockdown, a Marilyn Monroe statue and interviewed former UKIP leader Nigel Farage.
It was a wonderful reunion for Bill and Susanna who worked for years together on BBC Breakfast. They co-presented the show from 2003 up until Susanna left in 2014 and then Bill left a couple of years later in 2016 after 15 years at the helm.
Following their brief stint back together, Bill shared a snap on social media where he thanked Susanna.
"Big thanks to @susannareid100, everyone @gmb, and all those watching who sent such lovely messages this week. A huge pleasure to be back on the telly. Thank you for having me," he said.
Following his passing, Susanna was one of the first to pay tribute to Bill, as she hailed him as the "kindest, funniest and most generous man in the business". She shared how "lucky" she felt to have worked with him.
"Bill was the kindest, funniest, most generous man in the business. I feel lucky to have worked with him and he taught me everything. But above all, he was devoted to his family and I am heartbroken for them. RIP Bill. We will miss you so much," she said.
His heartbroken wife Sarah, known as Sesi, paid tribute in an emotional statement.
It was read out by Naga Munchetty live on air as the presenters paid tribute to him. The statement shared read: "Our lovely Billy died yesterday evening. Almost five years after being diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer.
"The last week of his life was very special as the whole family was with him and they shared some wonderful moments. Although Bill was often in pain, he was dignified and brave throughout and he was his usual determined self right until the very end. He made us laugh everyday. We are immensely proud of him. He was the heart of our family. It's hard to imagine life without him."
