Bill O’Brien makes first comments since returning to Patriots

The New England Patriots aren’t wasting any time in rolling out the red carpet for newly-hired offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien.

After an expedited hiring, the team has already taken to social media to begin promoting the return of the 2011 Patriots offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. In many ways, O’Brien is being celebrated as the savior for a team that looked offensively incompetent in the 2022 season.

Specifically after the Boston Herald’s bombshell news story dropped on Thursday, depicting a muddled mess of an operation behind the scenes, the Patriots wasted little time in pushing out O’Brien’s return video.

“Having worked here before, having grown up here—just a great opportunity for my family. And yeah, very excited,” said O’Brien. “I’ve had a lot of different experiences, but at the end of the day, the opportunity to come back here presented itself and it was something I couldn’t pass up. So hopefully, I can bring some of those experiences to the table here and help our football team. I’m looking forward to getting back and working with Bill and doing what’s best for the team. That’s what this place is all about.”

The hope is that O’Brien can bring a sense of offensive normalcy to the Patriots. He clearly has familiarity with the owner, organization, head coach and quarterback.

If anyone can make the Patriots offense work again, it would be O’Brien.
