Patriots head coach Bill Belichick was available to the media on Monday during the NFL owners meetings in Phoenix, but he didn’t seem too happy about some of the questions he received.
In particular, one reporter’s question about the possibility of bringing Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson to New England was shot down by Belichick, who bluntly indicated that wouldn’t be a topic of discussion.
“I’m not going to talk about players on any other team,” Belichick said to the reporter.
On Monday, Jackson revealed that he requested a trade out of Baltimore in early March. Although the news of his trade request potentially could spark interest from teams across the league, the Patriots head coach refused to discuss the matter.
Jackson, who received the non-exclusive franchise tag from the Ravens earlier this offseason, had been negotiating a new long-term contract with the organization without an agent. Thus far, the two sides have been unable to come to an agreement.
New England figures to break camp with Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe as their top two quarterbacks, barring any further offseason moves or draft additions. Whether Belichick has any interest in lining up a move for Jackson remains unclear, as he unsurprisingly declined to comment on the situation.
With Jackson facing an uncertain future in Baltimore, there figures to be plenty of speculation about where he could end up. Belichick, however, isn’t interested in taking part in those conversations.
