Bill Belichick interviewing another former Patriot for vacant offensive coordinator job

The New England Patriots are set to interview Arizona Cardinals’ associate head coach and wide receivers coach Shawn Jefferson for their offensive coordinator job. According to CBS Sports’ Josina Anderson, the interview is slated for Friday.

Jefferson has familiarity with Bill Belichick and the Patriots organization as a whole. He played in New England from 1996 through 1999, under the watchful eye of Bill Parcells.

Belichick was the assistant head coach and defensive backs coach under Parcells at the time. Both Belichick and Parcells went to the New York Jets after the 1996 season.

Jefferson adds to an offensive coordinator candidate list that keeps growing. The Patriots are also said to interview Minnesota Vikings wide receivers coach Keenan McCardell and Oregon associate head coach and offensive line coach Adrian Klemm.

Tight ends coach Nick Caley is also in the mix for the position.

The Patriots are looking to bounce back after a difficult 2022 season. It appears they are doing their due diligence at offensive coordinator with the unit clearly needing a major overhaul.
