Bill Bailey and Lee Mack embark on 100-mile hike in tribute to late comedian Sean Lock

Bill Bailey and Lee Mack have embarked on a 100-mile hike across southern England in a tribute to their late friend Sean Lock.

The comedians appeared in high spirits as they set off from Bude in Cornwall en route to Combe Martin in Devon while raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Their latest efforts came a little under one year after their “brilliant” and “dear friend” Sean Lock died at the age of 58 following a battle with lung cancer.

Sharing several updates along the route on the Just Giving page, Bailey was joined by a large group of Lock’s family and friends as they embarked on the coastal route.

So far, the group has raised an impressive £70,000 and counting. The hike is expected to take the group around seven days to complete.

In a statement on the Just Giving page, Bailey wrote: “This August, it will be one year since we lost the brilliant comedian, and my dear friend Sean Lock to cancer, I will be taking on a 100-mile walk along a section of the South West Coast Path to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support who provided such wonderful support for Sean and his family.

He added: “On the 7-day walk from Bude in Cornwall to Combe Martin in Devon, one of our favourite routes, I will be joined by Sean’s family and friends. The walk will be a chance to get together and celebrate his life while doing something he loved so much. Every penny donated will help Macmillan to provide emotional, physical and financial support for people living with cancer in the UK.”

Bailey and Mack had been friends with Lock for years prior to the 8 Out Of 10 Cats star’s death on August 16, 2021.

It was revealed at the time that the comedian and television star had been battling advanced lung cancer for some time and had passed away surrounded by his family and friends.
