Biker killed in road horror was expecting first baby with childhood sweetheart

A biker killed in a horrific road smash was looking forward to the arrival of first child in just a few weeks.

Phillip Alan Buchan, known as Phil, died when his motorbike collided with a lorry near Loch Lomond last week.

The 31-year-old from Clydebank died at the scene, leaving behind his heavily pregnant childhood sweetheart Gina, the Daily Record reports.

Friend Gerry Boyle has launched a fundraiser to help ease the financial burden on his family.

Posting on a Go Fund Me page, he explained: "Phil was our good friend, and soon to be father, who was involved in a motorcycle accident and tragically lost his life.

"We are hoping to raise some money to help ease the financial burden for his family as his girlfriend Gina is expecting their first child in a few weeks.

"Phil and Gina have been together since secondary school.

"Phil would help all of us out and bend over backwards to accommodate all who knew him so I am hoping we can all do the same to support his family during this extremely difficult time."

So far just under £5,700 has been raised in one day.

Emergency services raced to the incident on the A82 between Tarbet and Inveruglas at 4.15pm last Wednesday, but sadly Phil could not be saved.

Sergeant Hugh Niccolls, from Dumbarton Road Policing Unit, said: "At this time, our thoughts are very much with the family and friends of the deceased.

"I'd like to thank the public who stopped at the scene and have provided statements to officers. We continue to appeal for any further witnesses to come forward.

"If you have any information on this incident, please call police on 101, quoting incident 2388 of 20 April."

You can make a donation to the appeal here.
