Biker, 81, dies after collision between motorcycle and car

An 81-year-old man has died after a road traffic collision between the motorbike he was on and a car that took place on Sunday.

Norman Jackson was taken to hospital for his injuries after the incident on the Newcastle Road, Seaforde, Co Down on March 6 and passed away on March 8.

A spokesperson for the Police Service of Northern Ireland said: "Norman Jackson, 81, from the Castlereagh area, was seriously injured after the red Honda CBX 500X motorcycle he was riding was in collision with a black Volvo XC60 at approximately 1.15pm on Sunday afternoon.

"Norman was taken to hospital for treatment following the collision but sadly passed away due to his injuries on Tuesday morning.

"The occupants of the Volvo car did not report any injuries."

"A full investigation into the cause of the collision is underway and officers from the Collision Investigation Unit would ask anyone who was travelling on the Newcastle Road, between Ballynahinch and Seaforde on Sunday, and who saw either of the vehicles being driven or who captured dash-cam footage which could assist with their enquiries, to call them at Sprucefield on 101, quoting reference number 903 06/03/22."
