Ben Dunne Gyms has announced they're reopening their gym in Kimmage, Dublin on December 2.
In a post that was made to their social media account, the popular chain of gyms announced they'll be reopening their Carlisle gym in Terenure, Kimmage on Wednesday, December 2.
"I'm now standing in the finished product of Ben Dunne Gym Carlise, ready to reopen on December 2," while adding that the location will provide for "a lot of social distancing, this gym will never be crowded."
The video post is corroborated by a recent email sent to members which also said that the gym will be reopening on Wednesday, December 2 with new COVID-related rules in place.
In terms of the rules, those that are ready to workout must sanitise their hands upon entry and while booking a gym slot is not required, a hand towel is essential with the gym stating "no hand towel, no admission".
Elsewhere, the gym has made surface cleaner available throughout the building and members are being instructed to clean the equipment before and after they exercise.
At present, individual training only is being encouraged.
For those members who are curious about fees, the next payment will be taken on January 8 and going forward, the monthly fee is now at €29 per month. Fees will be collected on the 8th of each month "or closest working day thereafter until you cancel your membership".
In terms of the other Ben Dunne gums, a post on their official page also states that the gyms are closed until December 2, giving hope that they will reopen on this date.
In a previous interview, Ben Dunne announced some of the changes that the company were making to their gym facilities. Jacuzzis, steam rooms and swimming pools are “a thing of the past" as a result of COVID-19, the businessman said.
He said: “No more swimming pools, jacuzzis, steam rooms – they are gone. A thing of the past because you can’t socially distance in them – impossible.”
Mr Dunne shut his 10 gyms within hours of the Taoiseach Leo Varadkar announcing the first wave of restrictions on March 12.
A Government Cabinet meeting is taking place today where the opening of gyms, hairdressers and restaurants is top of the agenda.
