Oregon's impressive performance in its first year in the Big Ten and Indiana's remarkable turnaround have resulted in the conference having four of its teams ranked in the top five of The Associated Press college football poll for the first time in history.

Throughout the 88-year history of the poll, the Big Ten has had three teams in the top five on 16 occasions, with this season marking the fourth time that four teams have achieved this feat. Oregon and Ohio State currently hold the top two spots, while Penn State and Indiana are ranked fourth and fifth, respectively, with Texas from the SEC positioned at No. 3.

Indiana achieves a historic 10-0 record for the first time.

Indiana's historic 10-0 record, a first in the program's history, was solidified by a hard-fought 20-15 victory over Michigan. Despite the win, coach Curt Cignetti remains modest about the team's ranking and its potential in the College Football Playoff.

The upcoming release of the second CFP rankings will shed light on the selection committee's view of the Big Ten teams. Oregon, Ohio State, Penn State, and Indiana were all prominently featured in the initial rankings, with Indiana achieving its highest ranking since 1967.

Oregon, Ohio State, and Penn State are all enjoying successful seasons with 10-0, 8-1, and 8-1 records, respectively. The SEC is the only other conference to have had four teams in the top five, with this season marking the fourth occurrence.

Among the top 25 teams, Oregon is preparing to face Wisconsin after a lackluster performance against Maryland, while Tennessee's quarterback is expected to return for their game against Georgia. BYU secured a significant win against Utah, Army continues its unbeaten streak, and Tulane enters the rankings for the first time this season.

Additional highlights include Miami's loss to Georgia Tech, South Carolina's return to the rankings, and Iowa State's drop after losing two consecutive games following a strong start to the season.
