In 2024, Iowa guard Caitlin Clark went from merely a basketball superstar to a borderline economic driver.
Among those reaping the benefits: the Big Ten conference.
The Big Ten women’s basketball tournament has sold out for the first time in its history, the league announced Friday.
The 14-team tournament will be held in Minneapolis from March 6 to 10 and televised on Peacock, the Big Ten Network and CBS.
It will mark the 30th year the Big Ten has sanctioned a women’s basketball tournament, and the second straight year the tournament has been held in Minneapolis.

Clark, now Division I women’s basketball’s all-time leading scorer, has led the Hawkeyes to a 23-4 record this season. Iowa is ranked fourth in the country, although it lost to No. 14 Indiana 86–69 in Bloomington Thursday.
Nevertheless, the Hawkeyes have won the last two Big Ten tournaments, with Clark garnering Most Outstanding Player honors in back-to-back years.
