Big screens to go up in 30 places showing King Charles' Coronation - see full list

Big screens will be put up in more than 30 locations across the UK to show King Charles' Coronation in May, the Government has announced.

Officials will splash more than £1 million to ensure thousands have the chance to gather together to watch Charles and Queen Consort Camilla crowned on May 6.

There will be screenings across all four nations of the UK, with confirmed sites including Cardiff Castle, Belfast City Hall, Piece Hall in Halifax, Jubilee Square in Brighton and Piccadilly Gardens in Manchester.

Culture Secretary Lucy Frazer said the coronation in Westminster Abbey will be a "magical moment".

World leaders are set to descend on London as the UK, nearly 70 years after the late Queen's coronation in June 1953.

Ms Frazer said: “The Coronation will be a magical moment that brings people together to celebrate the best of Britain over a special weekend in May.

“These big screens, in major locations in towns and cities in the four nations of the UK, will make it easier for everyone to take part and have a memorable experience to mark this exciting and historic event.”

Councils will also be hosting their own community events to mark the landmark day.

There will be a Coronation Concert at Windsor Castle on Sunday 7 May.

Across the weekend tens of thousands of Coronation ‘Big Lunches’ and street parties will be held

The Government said that further screen sites will be announced in due course. Some screening sites will also show the Coronation Concert on the Sunday.
