After what seems like an eternity, the warm, dry, weather finally broke up a bit this week with rain and thunder warnings in place and flash flooding in parts of the country. But despite the downpours in parts, the temperatures still haven't let up, remaining well into the 20Cs in most places.
But this weekend could divide things up a bit with one half of Wales expecting to see sunny skies, and the other reaching for their raincoats. Despite this, whatever the climate where you are, it's still going to be fairly warm, with some parts of the UK even expecting to reach 30C.
Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist Steven Keates said: “More of a northwest/southeast split in the UK weather is developing from Friday and into the weekend. High pressure will begin to establish itself from the southeast, allowing a good deal of settled weather through the weekend, with temperatures likely building towards, or slightly exceeding, 30C in some spots.

“However, it’s a much more unsettled picture to the northwest through the weekend, with weather fronts pushing in from the Atlantic bringing more in the way of rain and some gusty coastal winds, especially for those in Scotland and Northern Ireland.”
And the picture is similar in Wales, with weather maps showing that the North of the country will be much wetter than the south over the weekend. The starkest difference looks to be on Friday and gradually even out over the weekend.

Friday 12pm
Perhaps the clearest divide, by Friday lunchtime it will be raining heavily in Caernarfon whereas in Cardiff it will be very sunny. Despite this there will only be a few degrees difference in temperature at 18C at the former and 21C at the latter, making for a humid north of the country.
Friday 3pm
Things remain pretty wet up north throughout the afternoon with the heavy rain spreading eastbound towards Wrexham. By now it will also be more cloudy in the south of the country despite temperatures remaining warm.
Friday 6pm
The majority of the rain will have passed by the north now, with showers lingering in Wrexham. As the evening draws in it will be grey across the country but should remain largely dry.
Saturday 12pm
It will be slightly more balanced at Saturday lunchtime, if anything with the north of the country looking brighter. It will be a slightly cooler start, not reaching 20C by lunchtime with a gentle breeze.
Saturday 3pm
By Saturday afternoon the temperatures between the north and south will start to split with a 4C difference between Caernarfon and Cardiff. The sun will also be trying to make an appearance on the west coast.
Saturday 6pm
By Saturday evening it will be sunny across the whole of Wales but it is the south that will really be basking in it, with clouds still in the north. Temperatures will be very warm by Saturday night with highs of 24C in Cardiff.
Sunday 1pm
Just after lunchtime on Saturday and the majority of the country should expect sunny spells, before it clears in the south later in the evening. It will be warm again with the majority of the country experiencing temperatures over 20C.
Sunday 7pm
Things will have split up again by Sunday evening with clouds clearing in the south west making was for some brilliant skies. There will also be light rain in large parts of the country from mid to north Wales.

A cloudy start with patchy rain and drizzle. Becoming drier with cloud breaking up into the afternoon, leaving plenty of sunny spells. Winds easing and feeling warm. Maximum temperature 25 °C.
Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:
Feeling warm and humid, with showery rain from the west on Sunday. Drier and feeling fresher on Monday and Tuesday. Breezy, particularly on Sunday.
