New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday granted bail to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a case registered by CBI in the alleged excise policy scam, reports Dynamite News correspondent.

The bench of Justices Surya Kant and Ujjal Bhuyan had reserved its judgment on September 5 on the bail plea filed by Kejriwal.

Since, Kejriwal has already been granted interim bail in the money laundering case probed by the ED, the Apex Court has on Friday granted him relief in CBI case too.

Bail conditions
Kejriwal has been granted bail with some riders like he cannot visit the Chief Minister’s office or the Delhi Secretariat as part of bail conditions imposed by SC.

Besides, the conditions imposed by a coordinate bench while granting interim bail to the Delhi CM on May 10 will apply this time too.

This means that he would also not be able to sign any official files unless it was required and necessary for obtaining clearance or approval of the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi

Kejriwal has filed two separate petitions in the Supreme Court challenging the denial of bail and against his arrest by CBI.

The AAP convenor has submitted to the Top Court that he was not flight risk or hardened criminal or a threat to society, making his a fit case for bail. However, CBI argued that he could influence witnesses if allowed to come out of jail.
