The arrests followed simultaneous raids at Tiwari’s properties in Gorakhpur, Lucknow, Noida, and Mumbai earlier on Monday. Sources confirm the ED has finalized a chargesheet, set to be filed in court soon.
Investigations reveal Gangotri Enterprises Ltd, led by Tiwari and others, secured ₹1,129.44 crore in loans from a Bank of India-led consortium. The funds were allegedly diverted to shell companies, causing a ₹754.24 crore loss to banks.
In November 2023, the ED attached Tiwari’s assets worth ₹72.08 crore—including agricultural land, residential plots, and commercial complexes across Gorakhpur, Maharajganj, and Lucknow. The probe began after CBI registered a case based on bank complaints.
