'Big fire' breaks out opposite popular pub in Toton

Pictures show the scale of a fire that broke out opposite a pub in Toton. It happened at a shipping container site and two fire engines were called out.

Firefighters said the building, on a derelict plot in Nottingham Road, was reported to have been "well alight". The incident, first reported at 8.42pm on Wednesday (July 27), happened opposite the Manor Bar and Restaurant.

Two fire engines from the Long Eaton and Stockhill stations attended. Crews used one hose reel jet and the fire was out by 9.53pm. Witnesses, who described it as a 'big fire', said some roads had been closed while the incident was dealt with. The police were called to manage the traffic.
