Big Brother star Lauren Harries shares health update after unsuccessful spinal surgery

Big Brother star Lauren Harries has updated fans on her condition after an unsuccessful operation on her spine.

The 45-year-old TV star previously underwent emergency brain surgery in April after falling ill with a mystery condition.

Although Lauren and her family have not revealed exactly what her medical condition is, they have been giving fans health updates on social media.

Taking to Lauren's Twitter page, her mum revealed her latest surgery on her spine was unsuccessful.

"Lauren has had to have Spinal Surgery due to a split in her spine. This was very painful, It's worrying as the spine is the most dangerous place to have an operation next to the brain," she wrote.

"Unfortunately the surgery was unsuccessful so drs are looking into other options. She's been in hospital now for over 2.5 months."

Her mum continued: "Her spine is concerning for doctors and she will be staying for longer. We don't know why or how this happened. She just wants to get home."

Back in April, Lauren was placed into an induced coma after she suffered painful seizures which caused her whole body to shake uncontrollably.

Taking to her Instagram stories, Lauren told her followers she now will have to learn to walk again.

She wrote: "Not being able to walk is awful. I have to start all over again.

"The second is having my head shaved and the seizures. There are no words to express.

"And being in hospital for so long is hard, but thanks to all my stars for your love and support. I’m trying to walk and be me again."

A few days before, she was pictured looking in higher spirits as she used a walking frame to walk next to her hospital bed.

Suggesting her health is getting better, her family told fans: "Lauren hasn’t had a seizure for a few days which is a great relief.

"She still can’t walk without help. We are waiting for tests and her toes are in a lot of pain."

The social media post continued: "She’s a fighter and has been through so much.

"Thank you to everyone who is staying positive and praying for her. She loves you all."
