Big Brother's Lateysha Grace rushes baby back to hospital as she struggles to breathe

Lateysha Grace has rushed her premature baby back to hospital as she was struggling to breathe.

The 29-year-old former Big Brother star rushed baby Layke, who was born at just 34 weeks, to hospital after she noticed a change in her breathing.

The Welsh reality star kept fans up to date with a series of videos on Instagram.

“Layke kept doing this thing between feeds where she would just hold her breath and I would be like what the hell," the panicked mum said.

“I’d blow on her face and she’d regain her breathing again. It was really strange because she had never done that before.

“She was making different noises, like a grunting but I thought it was wind because she had been constipated. But it was getting more and more and that was a concern.

“And then I fed her, winded her and put her to bed and she kept making the noises and she just wasn’t acting herself. She just wasn’t responsive. She was breathing really fast and went pale, so I was like no something isn’t right.

“So we ran out the house and went to the nearest hospital to ours and I ran in and was like ‘please just help me’.”

Lateysha explained the hospital didn’t have the right facilities to care for her premature baby, but luckily experts from the hospital where she was born soon arrived and she is now back in the newborn intensive care unit where she started her life.

The reality star, who is best known for her appearances on The Valleys, Million Dollar Baby and Celebrity Ex on the Beach, had previously asked followers to 'pray' for her unborn child after she was diagnosed with pre-eclampsia during pregnancy.

The condition, which affects about six per cent of pregnancies, had affected Lateysha for a few weeks before she gave birth.

Speaking in February, she said: “What’s meant to be the most exciting week for me has turned out to be the worst !

“Honestly if anyone feels like they may have preeclampsia please get it checked out ASAP it’s so dangerous to you and your baby . I don’t know how long I’m going to be in here for but please just pray for my baby.”

She said that symptoms of pre-eclampsia had appeared and she consulted a doctor which led to her being taken into hospital.

She said: "I wish I was taken more seriously when I went in with swollen feet two weeks ago. I don’t think it would be as severe as it currently is right now.

“And to top of all of this I have Covid. I just have to be as strong as I can be for my baby.”
