Big Brother is rumoured to be coming back, but with a big difference

"Big Brother house, this is Davina, you are live on Channel 4, please do not swear" is possibly the most iconic reality TV phrase of all time and a sentence that still gives us the excitement-shivers whenever we watch an old clip. Big Brother was the original reality show and ran for 18 years, first on Channel 4 and then latterly it moved to Channel 5, before being axed in November 2018.

Ever since the sliding doors closed for the final time, there's been a massive eye-shaped hole in the reality TV landscape which is why the recent rumours that the show might be making a comeback has got us excited all over again.

The Sun has reported that a TV source says Big Brother set to return in 2023 and this time, it will find a new home on ITV. The source said: “ITV is the home of big appointment telly. They know better than anyone how to put on big live events. Putting it on ITV2 will open it up to a new audience and legion of younger fans. They are really keen on getting the deal done on Big Brother, and hope to have something firm to announce soon.

The secret source continued: "The talks are still at an early, and delicate, stage and the next few weeks will be key. It needs the full treatment and they’re confident they are the ones who can return it to its legendary former glory. It has millions of fans and is one of the most iconic TV shows of its generation.”

Big Brother and its spin off shows have been hosted by everyone from Davina McCall to Brian Dowling (himself a former contestant), Emma Willis and Russell Brand, as well as launching the careers of many TV stars to date including: Jade Goody, Craig Phillips, Nasty Nick, Nikki Grahame, Alison Hammond and many, many others.

We almost can't wait for more news on this story. Until then, we'll be waiting in the diary room for further instructions and trying not to swear.
