Scottish rock band Biffy Clyro’s US tour will end early after they were forced to cancel their final gig in Los Angeles due to an illness in the band.
The Kilmarnock rockers admitted they were "devastated" to have to scrap their Belasco Theatre engagement and promised they would make up for the disappointment to their fans.
The news comes just a few days after they had to pull out of their Arizona show when lead singer Simon Neil lost his voice following their date in Dallas.
The three-man group had embarked on their first North American adventure in five years a few weeks back and revealed their angst at curtailing the tour. They wrote on Facebook : “We are devastated to announce that we have made the extremely difficult decision to cancel tonight’s show in Los Angeles due to an illness within the band.
“We were really looking forward to playing in Los Angeles at the end of a great USA tour and promise we will make it up to you. Love, Simon, James and Ben x.”
Following their Arizona cancellation, the band admitted that Neil’s voice had gone completely and were doing “everything they could to fix it for the remainder of the shows”. They added: “We’re gutted to come all this way, and waited so long to play for you guys, to have to cancel a show – please know how sorry we are to not to be playing in Tempe.”
Biffy Clyro, who comprise frontman Neil, along with twins James Johnston (bass, vocals) and Ben Johnston (drums, vocals), were previously forced to postpone their European tour dates twice because of coronavirus concerns.
In January, they announced that dates on the continent would now be scheduled for August and October.
Formed in 1995 in the East Ayrshire town, Biffy Clyro have released nine studio albums, the latest of which, The Myth Of The Happily Ever After, was released in October last year. It was their fifth long-player to top the charts in Scotland, and reached four in the UK following a run of three No.1s.
The band have also enjoyed 15 top-10 singles in their homeland, including four No.1s, and 10 top-10 singles on the UK rock charts, although 2017 release Friends and Enemies was the last time they hit that target.
