Biden Stresses US Support For Israel Amid Iran Tensions

Joe Biden

A top US national security official declined to confirm whether President Joe Biden urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to exercise restraint in Israel's response to Iran's recent attack. The National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications, John Kirby, emphasized that President Biden has maintained a consistent stance since the conflict began on October 7th. Kirby reiterated the US's position of not seeking a war with Iran or escalating regional tensions, while affirming the commitment to defend Israel.

Reports surfaced indicating that during a call, President Biden suggested to Netanyahu that Israel should view Saturday's events as a victory due to the perceived ineffectiveness of Iran's attacks and Israel's military superiority. However, the US made it clear that it would not engage in offensive actions against Iran in response to the incidents.
