Biden And Clinton Raise Million In Fundraising Blitz

President Joe Biden talks with former President Bill Clinton during an event in the East Room of the White House in Washington, Feb. 2, 2023. Biden is again joining forces with former President

President Joe Biden is teaming up with former President Bill Clinton once again to raise campaign funds, with a joint fundraiser set to bring in $8 million on Tuesday. This event is part of a larger fundraising effort that has seen Biden's reelection campaign collect approximately $40 million in the past five days.

The bulk of this impressive sum, as confirmed by a Biden campaign official, was generated from a high-profile fundraiser held in Los Angeles on Saturday, featuring Biden and former President Barack Obama, which raised over $30 million. Additionally, First Lady Jill Biden has been conducting her own fundraising activities, contributing $1.5 million to the campaign.

Biden and Clinton, who previously appeared together with Obama at a fundraiser in New York, will headline Tuesday's event at the home of former Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe, a longtime Clinton adviser. The fundraiser, taking place in McLean, Va., will also be attended by Jill Biden and former First Lady Hillary Clinton.

A campaign spokesman emphasized the enthusiasm behind President Biden and Vice President Harris, noting that the $40 million raised since Friday will support increased advertising, organizing efforts, and direct voter outreach leading up to the November election. The campaign contrasts its fundraising success with the Trump campaign's recent financial challenges, highlighting Trump's lack of resources and presence in battleground states.

The Los Angeles fundraiser over the weekend, which featured prominent figures like actors George Clooney and Julia Roberts, marked the largest single fundraising event in Democratic Party history.

Biden has intensified his fundraising efforts in response to signs that his Republican opponent, Donald Trump, is gaining momentum in fundraising. Trump notably raised $50.5 million at an April event with major donors in Florida. The Trump campaign and the Republican National Committee reported a total of $141 million raised in May, boosted by significant contributions following Trump's legal troubles.

As of now, the Biden campaign has not disclosed its May fundraising figures, but the recent fundraising success indicates a strong financial position as the election approaches.
