President Joe Biden is set to deliver his final address to the U.N. General Assembly on Tuesday amidst escalating tensions in the Middle East. The region is witnessing heightened conflict between Israel and Hezbollah militants in Lebanon, as well as the approaching one-year mark of Israel's operation against Hamas in Gaza.

Biden is expected to use his speech to emphasize the urgent need to end the Middle East conflict and the civil war in Sudan. He will also highlight the support provided by the U.S. and its Western allies to Kyiv since Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

The President's appearance at the U.N. offers him a significant platform to advocate for continued robust support for Ukraine, especially in light of potential changes in leadership following the upcoming U.S. elections.

While Biden aimed to rejuvenate U.S. global relations and withdraw from long-standing conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq, his administration now faces critical challenges in Europe and the Middle East. The Pentagon recently announced the deployment of additional U.S. troops to the Middle East due to escalating tensions in the region.

The White House is urging Israel and Hezbollah to de-escalate the situation, emphasizing the importance of a swift and diplomatic resolution. Administration officials are engaging in discussions with international counterparts at the U.N. to explore potential solutions to prevent further escalation of the conflict between Israel and Lebanon.

Despite previous optimism for the Middle East, recent events have led to a resurgence of violence, with Israeli strikes in Lebanon resulting in significant casualties. The conflict threatens to expand into a multi-front war, posing a challenge to Biden's foreign policy legacy.

In addition to addressing the Middle East crisis, Biden is expected to discuss ongoing Western support for Ukraine in its conflict with Russia. The U.S. has maintained its backing for Ukraine despite concerns about the cost of the conflict and pressure from some lawmakers.

As Biden prepares to address the U.N. General Assembly, the international community watches closely for his stance on these critical global issues and the actions that will be taken to promote peace and stability in the region.
