BGT winner Viggo Venn breaks silence with Amanda Holden message after cancelling ITV interview

Britain's Got Talent winner Viggo Venn has delighted his fans by returning to social media following his big win. The comedian was crowned champion during this year's final bagging the £250,000 prize money and a spot on the Royal Variety Show.

However he's remained quiet on social media since his big win and even missed an interview on ITV's Lorraine on Tuesday, June 6, with the presenter telling viewers: "Now Viggo was supposed to be joining me in the studio this morning . Unfortunately he's not feeling too chipper. Hopefully we'll see him later on."

And while Viggo didn't appear on Lorraine on Tuesday he returned to both social media and screens on Wednesday, June 7. Breaking his social media silence for the first time since his win Viggo took to his stories and said: "Hello, haven't been on social media since the final, now I'm on the way to see Amanda Holden on her radio show."

As well as giving Amanda a shout-out before heading to Heart headquarters Viggo also appeared on Lorraine following his earlier absence. Speaking to the host he said: "It's not my fault that I won – it's the British public. I was kind of hoping I didn't win because it would be so embarrassing but I was so happy."

Lorraine responded: "But we need a bit of fun. King Charles will like you– you need to get him to wear a vest he likes a bit of silly."

Viggo, who won over BGT viewers with his high-energy routines and high-vis yellow jacket, was crowned champion during the 2023 final on Sunday, June 4. The audience were in raptures after his performance, chanting: "One more time," in reference to his first audition on the show.

Alesha Dixon said: "You've captivated the nation – they love you," while Bruno Tonioli told him: "I think your physical comedy is world-class. You have created one of the most memorable characters since Mr Bean."

Meanwhile Simon Cowell said: "At least you didn’t make me look stupid tonight. I have never ever met an act like you in my life. I will admit it – I really, really love you now." Despite impressing the panel and viewers alike, however, Viggo's win was met with mixed reactions after several members of the audience booed the Norwegian funnyman. Picking up on this some viewers took to Twitter to defend Viggo.

One said: "Very surprised. But Viggo was very funny. Very distasteful for anyone to boo Viggo. Not his fault he won, people voted for him, not anyone else. Made it a sour end thanks to the audience reaction. Well done, Viggo!!!" For more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.
