BGT teen comedian says ITV show scouted her off Instagram after wowing judges

Britain’s Got Talent contestant Eva Abley has opened up about how she came to be on the ITV talent show stage after her stand up act blew the judging panel away on Saturday’s show.

The 14-year-old comedian, who suffers from cerebral palsy, had the judges and viewers at home in stitches with her jokes about disability.

Eva was the second act to take to the stage in the latest episode of the hit ITV talent competition and kicked off her set before judging panel Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, David Walliams and Alesha Dixon.

“I'd like to apologise if you can't understand me, I have a disability called cerebral palsy, and I'm from the black country,” she joked.

“So if you can't hear, wait until you get home and rewatch it with the subtitles on.”

The judges were left in hysterics as she added: “My full medical diagnosis is spastic ataxic quadriplegic cerebral palsy.

“Really? I have enough trouble asking Alexa a question and they expect me to say that? I mean, come on!”

The impressive teen comedian appeared on Lorraine on Monday to chat about her stand-up act alongside her mum.

Eva told host Lorraine Kelly about how the Britain’s Got Talent success, which saw her receive rave feedback from the judges, was in part a way of her getting back at nasty bullies at school who drove her to be home-schooled.

Eva then explained that she recorded a joke on Instagram and that “Britain’s Got Talent saw it” (ITV)

Eva told Lorraine on Monday: “I started to tell people my jokes and then, because I find it hard with a disability for people to accept me, I found that jokes were kind of breaking that point in my disability, then people would want to get to know me more.”

Eva then explained that she recorded a joke on Instagram and that “Britain’s Got Talent saw it” afterwards.

Lorraine then asked: “So it came from that? Isn’t that amazing.”

Elsewhere on Saturday’s show, Amanda Holden was left horrified after an act appeared to go wrong on stage.

Steve Rawlings took to the stage in an attempt to impress the judges with his act of juggling while blindfolded - but the act took a turn when he set his batons on fire.

There were gasps heard in the audience as Steve accidentally set his face covering on fire.

When a Britain’s Got Talent crew member then rushed on the stage to tend to Steve, holding a towel in a bid to put out the fire, he then shockingly caught fire himself.

An open-mouthed Amanda looked on in horror and screamed in disbelief as the crew member rolled around on the floor of the stage.
