BGT 'Singing Dad' in tears as daughters send him special message ahead of semi-final

Britain's Got Talent contestant Nick Edwards was in tears as he appeared on ITV's Lorraine on Friday morning.

The 'Singing Dad' will perform live in the fifth semi-final at London's Hammersmith Apollo tonight and he's sure to get a standing ovation from the judges.

BGT viewers first saw Nick take to the stage back in April when his shock audition featured on the ITV talent show.

He had BGT host Declan Donnelly in tears as he sang a rendition of Ernie Halter’s 'Daddy’s Little Girl' after his mum and his young daughters, Cali and Savannah, suddenly appeared on stage and surprised him.

Speaking to Christine Lampard on ITV's Lorraine, Nick said of his surprise audition: "I haven't been able to watch it from start to end without welling up."

Speaking about his semi-final performance, Nick continued: "I'm just gonna give it everything I've got. I can tell you that I'm gonna be doing an original song and I'm gonna pour my heart out."

Nick's two young daughters recorded a special good luck message for him which was shown on Lorraine (ITV)

Asked if it's helped being able to watch the semi-final shows so far, Nick explained: "I watched the first episode and I was nervous from start to end. Now I feel I'm in a better place, I'm gonna hopefully smash it!"

Christine then surprised Nick with a pre-recorded video message from his two young daughters.

In the adorable clip, the girls said: "Good morning Daddy, I love you so much. I hope you come to the finals and we'll see you on the TV, we love you Daddy."

As the camera cut back to Nick in the studio, he was heard taking a deep breath and fighting back tears as Christine said: "I mean, c'mon Nick! Is that not just fabulous? They're all being pulled along with you on this incredible experience aren't they?"

"I'm speechless," Nick replied as he desperately tried to hold it together.

"Do you know what Nick, it's why we all loved watching you that night because we all sat at home crying with you because we all know the feelings.

Nick told Christine Lampard that he doesn't want to cry during his semi-final performance (ITV)

"I couldn't believe Ant and Dec, how many years have they done this show Nick? They have seen every audition that there is and Dec was just crying his eyes out."

"I don't wanna cry tonight!" Nick then admitted as Christine laughed before wishing him luck in the semi-final.

Lorraine airs weekdays at 9am on ITV and ITV Hub.
