Beyond the Pale festival: Everything you need to know from parking, how to get there and stage times

A host of musicians and comedians are set to entertain fans in the Wicklow mountains as the countdown to Beyond The Pale begins.

The weekend festival takes place this Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Glendalough Estate in Co Wicklow.

The line-up features Jon Hopkins, Thundercat, Hot Chip, Leftfield, Grace Jones, Morcheeba, Candi Station, Pillow Queens and many more. The arts programme includes Art Installations and a new comedy stage featuring Deirdre O’Kane, Emma Doran and Gearoid Farrelly.

The family-friendly festival also features a food village with food demos from chefs along with a wellness programme with yoga, massages, saunas, meditation and more.

Here is everything you need to know before you go:

Getting there

Beyond the Pale is at Glendalough Estate, just 30 minutes from south Dublin. Marathon coaches will be providing a bus service running from Custom House Quay in Dublin city centre, starting at 11am on Friday June 16, it will return on Sunday night at 11pm and Sunday night/Monday morning at 1am or Monday morning from 11am. Return tickets are €35 available to buy here.

Driving

We have a new festival entrance this year, follow these simple instructions

  1. Enter Roundwood, Co Wicklow into your Sat Nav
  2. Follow the Festival Signage
  3. Entrance Via Oldbridge

Is alcohol allowed?

Campers can bring one case of Beer (24 Cans) or two bottles of wine or one litre of spirits.

Glass bottles and mirrors are not allowed and there will be strict checks at the entrance to ensure the allowance is being adhered to.

Parking

Parking is allocated as close to the entrance as possible which is only a mere 10-minute walk from the campsite. Parking is free and we strongly recommend carpooling where possible.

Opening times

The festival site opens at 12pm on Friday, with music starting in the main arena at 4pm. The campsite will close at 12pm on Monday June 19.

Is the festival family-friendly?

The Beyond The Pale Festival is an over-21s event, there is family camping and under-12 children's tickets are available to purchase from the website.

Food and drink

There will be an array of food onsite with some top Irish food names cooking over the weekend including Happy’s, Órale, Bish Bosh, The Big Blue Bus, Little Dumpling, Kerala Kitchen and lots more. Also craft beer from Whitehag and crafty cocktails. The bars will be card only!

Are cameras allowed?

Yes, but only with a smartphone or small camera. All professional cameras and any other recording equipment are banned.

Weather forecast

The forecast is for humid and warm weather with sunny spells and temperatures of 19C to 22C but this is Ireland and the festival will happen rain or shine! So wear decent outdoor footwear, waterproofs and bring sunscreen too.
