She might have been a bit late to the stage on Tuesday night, but the reaction Beyoncé received as she arrived on stage in Sunderland spoke volumes as she returned to the city after seven years away.
The Crazy in Love star was expected to make her entrance in front of a captive Stadium of Light crowd before 8pm, but it was just before 8.20pm that she made her first appearance of the night, after a sea of silver and pink cowboy hats had chanted her name.
Cutting an absolutely stunning figure in a metallic blue gown, Beyoncé looked every inch the icon from the get-go, as she kicked off her set with the title track of her debut album Dangerously in Love, sounding just as stunning as she looked and name checking Sunderland before she began the song.
Sunderland is the third UK date of the Renaissance tour, with Beyoncé having played Cardiff and Edinburgh last week.
And, thankfully unlike Edinburgh there was no rain to be seen as she started her show, with the stadium bathed in sunshine after some rather threatening clouds earlier on.
