Beyoncé forced to confirm 'Renaissance' tour following surprise auction prize

It's the year of tour announcements and 2023 is shaping up to be an immense moment in the musical history calendar. Sam Smith, Lewis Capaldi and Taylor Swift have all announced tours for next year and now the 'the first lady of music' Beyoncé has confirmed one as well.

Announcements for tours are normally hyped up on artists' social media, usually following cryptic hints days, or weeks before the 'big, shiny reveal' but in the case of Beyoncé Knowles it hasn't been that straightforward. While fans have been speculating whether a tour will be on the cards since the Queen of pop launched her album, Renaissance in July, 2022, Beyoncé herself has yet to officially confirm, until now.

The announcement came in the form of a charity auction at the weekend, whereby the fifth annual Wearable Art Gala auctioned two concert tickets to Beyoncé’s ‘Renaissance’ 2023 tour, complete with a backstage tour from the singer's mum, Miss Tina. That's according to the NME, the auction listing read: "Celebrating her seventh studio album, Beyoncé has announced that she will be taking ‘Renaissance’ on tour and we are offering an exclusive 2 tickets to see her live from anywhere around the world, courtesy of United Airlines and their Polaris package."

The prize, which was said to be valued at 20,000 dollars, gave people the chance to see the American singer on tour with flights and accommodation also provided. Beyoncé was in attendance at the gala, as were her husband Jay-Z and their eldest daughter, Blue Ivy.

The gala was founded by Tina Knowles-Lawson and her husband, Richard Lawson, to help fund Where Art Can Occur arts and youth mentorship programs. Some attendees reported that the songstress looked 'shocked' following the prize announcement at the gala. It's being reported that the prize entered a bidding war with the final bid coming in at a £132,000.

Tour dates and venues for the 'Renaissance' 2023 tour have now yet been confirmed. Tickets are likely to be available from Ticketmaster and See Tickets so it's worth bookmarking these pages until more announcements are made.

When did Beyoncé last tour in the UK?

Beyoncé's last tour was in 2018 with On The Run II with Jay-Z which saw the Single Ladies singer play stadiums across the UK. Her last solo tour came in 2016 for her Formation World Tour, which coincided with the release of her album Lemonade.

For the On The Run II tour she came to Manchester, Cardiff, Glasgow and London before heading to Europe for shows in Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Stockholm and more. Following the tour Beyoncé and Jay-Z released their collaborative album, Everything Is Love. For her Formation World Tour, the Halo singer performed at several stadiums in the UK, including Sunderland, Cardiff, London, Manchester, Glasgow and Dublin.

What is Beyoncé's last album?

Beyoncé released Renaissance, which is also called Act I: Renaissance, her seventh studio album on July 29, 2022. The album marks her first solo studio release since Lemonade in 2016 and it is the first instalment of a trilogy project.
