Beyoncé and Jay-Z pose in front of a lift eight years after infamous Solange fight

Beyoncé and Jay-Z put on a united display as they posed in front of a lift - eight years after the rapper's infamous fight with her sister Solange Knowles.

Back in 2014, video footage emerged showing Beyoncé's sister Solange, 36, lashing out at Jay-Z, 52, in a lift at the Standard Hotel in New York.

The argument was reportedly sparked by Jay-Z's plans to go to Rihanna's Met Ball after party without Beyoncé, 40.

And now the couple put on a defiant display as they seemingly made a bold statement in their latest snap to mark the release of the singer's new album.

They failed to raise a smile as they stood side-by-side in front of the lift on the sixth floor, with the Break My Soul hitmaker looking incredible in a plunging silver studded bodysuit.

Jay-Z, meanwhile, looked dapper in a white silk suit and black shirt.

The shot posted on Monday was among a number of glamorous snaps documenting her album release bash at the Times Square Edition.

It comes as fans believe Beyoncé may even reference the famous family fight in her new song Cozy.

The lyrics say: "Might I suggest you don’t f**k with my sis / ‘Cause she comfortable" with some listeners believing it is a cryptic message about her protective sibling.

In 2014, a video obtained by gossip website TMZ, shows a man - seemingly a bodyguard - stepping in and holding Solange back after she lashed out at her sister's husband.

Jay-Z later spoke out about their fight, saying the two had made up.

"We had one disagreement ever," he said. "Before and after, we’ve been cool. She’s like my sister. I will protect her. That’s my sister, not my sister-in-law. My sister. Period."

"[Solange and I have] always had a great relationship. I fought my brothers and argued with my brothers my whole life. It just so happens, who we are, these things go into a different space … but it ain’t nothing."

Excluding her 2010 appearance as a featured artist on Lady Gaga’s number one Telephone, Break My Soul is now Beyonce ’s highest-charting solo hit in 14 years, since If I Was A Boy reached number one in 2008.

Her tracks Cuff It and Alien Superstar both also break into the top 20 at number 14 and number 16 respectively.

Renaissance is Beyonce’s seventh studio album, and her first solo offering in six years following the release of the critically acclaimed Lemonade in 2016.
