The iconic Bewley’s Café on Dublin’s Grafton Street is set to reopen its café and bakery in late August.
Staff at Bewley’s were last night told that the beloved Dublin institution will reopen its doors on a phased basis.
The café will begin serving coffee and a selection of food from the bakery on August 27, or earlier if possible.
A wider café offering will follow after that date.
The new roster will be filled by experienced hands from amongst the original team, in a show of support for staff who have stood by the company, Bewley’s said in a statement.

Speaking last night, managing director of Bewley’s, Col Campbell, said: “We’re conscious of the role that Bewley’s plays in the hearts of visitors and Dubliners and we’re delighted once again to play our part in bringing Dublin’s city centre back to life.
“We’re thrilled that the team who made Bewley’s such a wonderful place will once again bring the Bewley’s experience alive with customers, albeit on a phased basis initially.
“Further areas of the café will be opened in the weeks ahead in line with customer demand.”
Mr Campbell, whose father, Paddy Campbell owns Bewley’s, added: “We have no further details to share now but full details will be unveiled in the coming weeks.
“We are delighted to share this good news about the future of the café with the team and with Bewley’s lovers alike.”
News of the reopening comes following the announcement in May that the cafe would close its Grafton Street venue.
The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic was cited as one of the main reasons for the closure.
News of the closure in May came less than three years years after Bewley’s reopened its doors in November 2017 following a major €12million renovation. It had been closed for refurbishment since February 2015.
