Aberdeen star Christian Ramirez was left dumbfounded as fans jumped on a tweet made during Rangers’ 4-2 win at Borussia Dortmund.
The US cap striker took in the Europa League clash on Thursday night and like most was amazed as the bonkers first leg unfolded.
James Tavernier slotted home a penalty given via VAR and Alfredo Morelos added to the advantage before the break.
John Lundstram’s long-range strike made it three before Dortmund's Jude Bellingham cracked another from distance in an attempt to stir the home side into action.
It was at that point Ramirez remarked on how enthralling the play-off match had been, along with a Saltire emoji - but some Aberdeen fans took that as a tribute to their rivals.
The striker then deleted the post before adding another.
It read: “Deleted, jeez didn’t know I wasn’t allowed to watch” with a football emoji.
Ramirez was signed by axed Dons boss Stephen Glass last summer and has since become a fans favourite.
The reaction to the tweet was mixed among supporters with some on the frontman's side.
One reply read: "Your the king of USA but you can’t be happy to see Rangers winning."
While another stuck up for Aberdeen's top goalscorer by replying: "Football player watching a game of football, I despair sometimes."
Former Hibernian star Martin Boyle, now of Al-Faisaly, even weighed in with a GIF of a person grabbing some popcorn.
Ramirez also raised eyebrows with his Twitter activity in the wake of Glass' sacking on Sunday, simply posting: "F***!"
