The Denver Broncos opened as 4.5-point favorites over the Seattle Seahawks at BetMGM for Monday night’s game. The move to the current 6.5-point spread was among the four largest jumps of Week 1 games. It’s safe to say the public feels good about Denver’s chances.
But just how good do they feel? Data from Tipico Sportsbook shows that 78% of bets against the spread were in favor of the Broncos, and Denver also received a whopping 91% of the money wagered against the spread. The moneyline numbers are even more staggering, with 96% of the bets and 91% of the money being placed on the Broncos despite very short -280 odds.
For that many people to buy the odds at that price, the confidence meter has to be on 10. And there’s plenty of reason to believe the Broncos can get it done in Russell Wilson’s return to Seattle.
The public is a little more split on the point total, though, as a small majority leans towards a low-scoring game. With the line at 43.5 points, 53% of bets and 55% of the handle are on the under.
