UPDATE Oct. 6: The bets are getting crazier.
It’s been a few months since this specific bettor placed a $10k bet on the Sacramento Kings to win the 2022-23 NBA title. Today, he dropped another $8k on them to win it all.
If I’m doing the math correctly, that’s $18k on a team that’s projected to finish last in its own division. Also, it’s now $18k on a team that hasn’t made the playoffs since the George W. Bush administration.
But, hey, I guess a potential $10.3 million payout is worth it?
Original July 16, 2022: Sixteen years.
One hundred ninety-four months.
Five thousand nine hundred thirteen days and counting.
That is precisely how long it has been since the Sacramento Kings last played an NBA Playoff game.
Perhaps this information would have been helpful for one Las Vegas bettor who placed a $10,000 bet at Caesar’s Sportsbook on the Kings to win the 2022-23 NBA Championship.
Being that this wager was done in Vegas, maybe this bettor was fresh off of watching Keegan Murray excel at the NBA Summer League. Maybe it was the recent free agent signing of Malik Monk that got this bettor feeling excited. Or perhaps the trade for Kevin Huerter. Possibly the hiring of Mike Brown to be the new head coach.
Hey, perhaps this group photo of the squad is what did the trick.
The joke might be on me if this person is $7.5 million richer at this time a year from now.
Until then, let’s just say that the decision to seemingly give way $10k is bad. I’ll cross my fingers and say a couple of prayers for this bettor, though.
A Las Vegas bettor at @CaesarsSports just wagered $10,000 on the Sacramento Kings to win the NBA title at 750-1 odds.
Bet would win $7.5 million
