Betting Markets Reveal Top Contenders For Trump's VP Pick

Donald Trump Former U.S. President and current Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's rally in Sioux City

Donald Trump has announced that he will not reveal his running mate until the convention, a departure from the usual practice. However, potential contenders for the position have emerged, and data from betting markets sheds light on their chances of being chosen as Trump's VP.

According to the latest data, Tim Scott leads the pack with a 21% chance of being Trump's VP nominee, closely followed by Doug Burgum. Marco Rubio and JD Vance, who were also in the running, have seen fluctuations in their odds, with Vance's chances dropping from last month.

Historically, members of Congress have been the most common choice for major party VP nominees, with senators being preferred over House members. Governors have also been selected frequently, while cabinet secretaries have been VP nominees on eight occasions.

Despite the betting market predictions, past elections have shown that underdogs can emerge as the final choice for VP. Candidates like Palin, Ryan, and Pence had relatively low odds at this stage in previous races but were ultimately selected as running mates.

Ultimately, the decision rests with Donald Trump, and the VP selection process remains unpredictable. While the data provides insights into potential candidates, the final choice is known only to Trump himself.
