Bethenny Frankel has landed her first-ever role in a Lifetime original movie titled 'Danger in the Dorm,' where she will star alongside Clara Alexandrova. The film, inspired by a story from true crime novelist Ann Rule, is currently in production and is set to premiere on Lifetime this summer as part of its 'Ripped From the Headlines' movie slate.
The official synopsis of 'Danger in the Dorm' follows the character Kathleen, played by Alexandrova, as she navigates the aftermath of her best friend Becky's tragic murder. Bethenny Frankel portrays Kathleen's mother, Joanne, who strives to shield her daughter from a similar fate while they work together to apprehend a killer targeting young girls on campus.
The script for the movie was penned by Benjamin Anderson, with Robin Hays directing and Howard Braunstein, Conor Allyn, Benjamin Anderson, and Ilene Kahn Powers serving as executive producers. Hays expressed excitement about collaborating with Frankel, praising her dedication and talent in bringing depth and authenticity to her character.
While Frankel is best known for her reality TV appearances, particularly on Bravo's 'The Real Housewives of New York City,' she has ventured into acting with this new project. Her involvement in 'Danger in the Dorm' marks a potential new chapter in her career, as she reflects on the demanding nature of the role and the insights gained from the experience.
Aside from her entertainment endeavors, Frankel is a successful entrepreneur, author, podcaster, and YouTuber. She is the founder of the lifestyle brand SkinnyGirl, has published multiple books, and has been an advocate for fair treatment of reality TV stars, particularly during the SAG-AFTRA strike in 2023.
In addition to 'Danger in the Dorm,' Lifetime has produced other movies based on Ann Rule's novels, including 'Too Late to Say Goodbye,' 'Hunt for the I-5 Killer,' and 'Everything She Ever Wanted.' Frankel's participation in this latest project adds to the network's lineup of compelling true crime adaptations.
