Police hunt launched after Betfred punter smashed up machines after loss

Police are looking to identify a man as part of an investigation into criminal damage being caused at a Weston-super-Mare bookmaker. The incident happened at the Betfred shop at around 7pm on Milton Road on October 21 last year with thousands of pounds worth of damage caused.

Officers confirmed that an unknown man entered the premises and lost some money. Avon and Somerset Police said he proceeded to damage several machines and a monitor, causing damage worth "upwards of £5,000", according to reports.

Police added that nobody was injured in the incident. Officers investigating the incident have issued a picture of a man they wish to speak to.

He is described as a man in his mid-20s to mid-30s, of medium build, with short, dark hair and a short beard. A statement from the force said: "We are appealing for the public’s help to identify this man.

"Police would like to speak with him following an incident of criminal damage at Betfred, in Weston-super-Mare. If you can help, please call 101 and give the call handler the reference number 5222253931, or complete our online appeals form."
