Best ways to add Pantone's colour of the year, mocha mousse, into your interiors

So the cat is out of the bag. With the end of the year knocking, Pantone has revealed its colour of the year for 2025 is - drumroll please - Mocha Mousse.

While it’s unclear how many people pay heed to this and colour drench their walls, trims and ceilings on Pantone’s say-so, there’s no denying the attractiveness of the shade. Pantone has put peach, magenta and lilac blue in the spotlight in previous years.

More interesting than basic old beige, the warm hue - officially called PANTONE 17-1230 Mocha Mousse - instantly brings to mind decadent chocolate puddings and leisurely cups of coffee.

In interiors, it's a bit of a chameleon, offering renovators an excellent base from which to jump into the oceans of minimalism or maximalism respectively.

B&Q’s Head of Décor, Gill Baker, weighs in: “This year’s soft brown Mocha Mousse is a brilliant, sophisticated and earthy tone that will suit many different areas of the home, but especially those that call for added comfort such as bedrooms and living rooms.

“The shade pairs well with other neutrals, or deep colours, such as navy blue or forest green. Alternatively, try matching the colour with cream tones for a modern, minimalistic look that is sure to elevate your home decor.”

Play into the nude, chocolate hues with complimentary tonal colours and gentle lighting to create a look of relaxed elegance. The earthy shade lends itself well to vintage cottagecore, mixing beautifully with soft greens, peaches and faded cornflower. Or channel far-flung desert vibes by bouncing sunny yellows and bright blue off the mocha base.

The colour is set to influence a raft of designers across categories, be it jewellers, car designs or fashion.

Whether you're going full tilt or just want to dip a fashionable little toe in, we've rounded up the sumptuous Mocha Mousse homewares and furniture to bring home in anticipation for the colour’s big moment come the New Year.
